FULTON STREET SUBWAY, NEW YORK CITY + THE CUTTY SARK, LONDON

(Architects: Grimshaw Partners LLP)

The glass oculus of the Fullton Street SUbway is defined by a "hyperbolic parabaloid cable net, stretched within a cone, and supporting an inner skin of filigree metal reflector panels."

Epitomizing the great age of sail and Britain's long bitter-sweet relationship with the sea, Cutty Sark is the last surviving tea-clipper. Suspended above ground in its pure form, the ship sits snugly on a glass arrangement, to imagine its own return to the sea.
